President Bola Tinubu is set to inaugurate three pivotal gas infrastructure projects executed by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and its collaborators. These projects, namely the AHL Gas Processing Plant 2 situated in Delta State, the ANOH Gas Processing Plant, and the ANOH-OB3 CTMS Gas Pipeline Projects in Imo State, collectively boast an estimated output of 1,400 million standard cubic feet per day.
Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, shared this information in a statement released on Friday under the title 'President Tinubu to commission critical gas infrastructure projects.'
These ventures align with the federal government's endeavor to derive value from the nation's gas resources, reduce gas flaring, and bolster domestic gas supply—a crucial component for fostering economic prosperity.
The AHL Gas Processing Plant 2, an extension of the Kwale Gas Processing Plant, currently supplies approximately 130 million standard cubic feet per day of gas to the local market. With a design capacity to process 200 million standard cubic feet per day of rich gas and channel lean gas through the OB3 Gas Pipeline, this plant is poised to play a significant role in supporting Nigeria's industrialization. Moreover, it is expected to produce around 160,000 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) of Propane and 100,000 MTPA of Butane, thereby reducing reliance on LPG imports. Developed by AHL Limited, a joint venture owned by NNPC Limited and SEEPCO, the AHL Gas Plant is already injecting gas and is slated to ramp up to 180 million standard cubic feet per day by the end of May.
Moving on to the ANOH gas plant, it is a 300 million standard cubic feet per day capacity gas processing facility designed to handle non-associated gas from the Assa North-Ohaji South field in Imo State. The output from this plant, comprising dry gas, condensate, and LPG, is expected to substantially boost domestic gas supply, leading to increased power generation and accelerated industrialization. Developed by ANOH Gas Processing Company, a joint venture between NNPC Limited and Seplat Energy Plc, the ANOH Gas Plant is nearing completion, with final pre-commissioning activities underway since its mechanical completion in December 2023.
Lastly, the ANOH-OB3 CTMS Gas Pipeline Project encompasses the engineering, procurement, and construction of the 36”x23.3km ANOH-OB3 Project. This transmission gas pipeline will transport dry gas from the Assa North-Ohaji South primary treatment facility to the OB3 Custody Transfer Metering Station, facilitating its integration into the OB3 pipeline system.
In conclusion, President Tinubu's commissioning of these gas infrastructure projects heralds a new era of economic growth, energy security, and environmental sustainability for Nigeria. By leveraging the nation's gas assets and fostering collaboration with private partners, these initiatives promise to propel Nigeria towards a more prosperous and sustainable fut
