Our April report is based on information collected from our online LPG in Nigeria community on Facebook and Twitter. Our research indicates that the somewhat increase in LPG prices across major cities and states in Nigeria recorded for our March report remains the same. Eighteen people responded online to our query about how much they paid for 12.5kg LPG in their different locality, which help us compile the data below and gain an overview of the LPG retail market in Nigeria.
The data derived indicates that the consistent widespread increase in LPG prices across different states remains the same, although some states LPG prices remain the same, that is, Zamfara at ₦ 8,875 and Warri, Delta, at ₦ 9,375. We also recorded these three states paid the highest prices for LPG, that is, Maiduguri, which paid ₦ 11,000; Lagos, which paid 11,250; and Apata, Ibadan, which paid ₦ 11,250. On the other hand, certain states did record reasonably low prices, such as Zamfara, which paid ₦ 8,875; Enugu, which paid ₦ 8,750, and Warri, Delta which paid ₦9,375. A brief comparison between our average price for LPG March, 2023, which we calculated to be ₦ 10,047 and the average price for April, 2023 calculated to be ₦ 10,265 shows a price increase of ₦218 in a month, which is 2.17% increase.
