To illuminate the fluctuations in Cooking Gas prices across various regions of Nigeria, we present a comprehensive report on Cooking Gas prices for March 2024. This report meticulously outlines the prices of Cooking Gas in numerous cities across the country, encompassing both the rates for the 12.5kg cylinder and per kilogram. Furthermore, it provides a comparative analysis with prices from February. Our insights are derived from data collected from 16 respondents, primarily sourced from responses on Facebook and X platform.

 

States or Cities Surveyed:

Port Harcourt, Ijebu East, Okeho- Oyo State, Maiduguri, Gombe, Fakale-Ogun State, Orlu-Imo State, Calabar, Ogun State, Ijede-Ikorodu, Sango-Otta, Sabo-Ikorodu, VI-Lagos State, Abuja, Kano, KatsIna

 

In March 2023, the price of Cooking Gas (Cooking Gas) in Nigeria varied across different cities and states. This report aims to identify the highest, intermediate, and lowest prices observed during this period and provide an analysis on the implications of these price variations.

 

Price Observations

 

Highest Prices:

 

Abuja: ₦18,750 for a 12.5 kg cylinder, equivalent to ₦1,500 per kg.

Sango Otta: ₦18,750 for a 12.5 kg cylinder, also ₦1,500 per kg.

Okeho, Oyo State: ₦17,500 for a 12.5 kg cylinder, resulting in ₦1,400 per kg.

 

Intermediate Prices:

 

VI, Lagos State: ₦16,875 for a 12.5 kg cylinder, translating to ₦1,350 per kg.

Gombe: ₦16,875 for a 12.5 kg cylinder, likewise ₦1,350 per kg.

Katsina: ₦16,250 for a 12.5 kg cylinder, resulting in ₦1,300 per kg.

 

Lowest Prices:

 

Kano: ₦12,500 for a 12.5 kg cylinder, leading to ₦1,000 per kg.

Sabo, Ikorodu: ₦13,750 for a 12.5 kg cylinder, equating to ₦1,100 per kg.

Calabar: ₦15,325 for a 12.5 kg cylinder, resulting in ₦1,226 per kg.

Port Harcourt: ₦16,000 for a 12.5 kg cylinder, with a rate of ₦1,280 per kg.

Ijebu East: ₦16,250 for a 12.5 kg cylinder, resulting in ₦1,300 per kg.

Maiduguri: ₦16,000 for a 12.5 kg cylinder, leading to ₦1,280 per kg.

Fakale, Ogun State: ₦15,625 for a 12.5 kg cylinder, equating to ₦1,250 per kg.

Orlu, Imo State: ₦16,250 for a 12.5 kg cylinder, resulting in ₦1,300 per kg.

Ogun State: ₦15,000 for a 12.5 kg cylinder, leading to ₦1,200 per kg.

Ijede, Ikorodu: ₦15,000 for a 12.5 kg cylinder, also ₦1,200 per kg.

 

In February 2024, the average price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) in Nigeria stood at approximately ₦16,812. However, by March 2024, this average price slightly dropped to about ₦16,043. So, the percentage decrease in the average Cooking Gas price from February 2024 to March 2024 is approximately 4.57%.
