Falcon Corporation Limited has reached a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to bolster Nigeria's domestic gas infrastructure. The company announced the achievement of one million man-hours without a lost time injury (LTI) during the construction of its 15,000 metric tonne Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) storage facility in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Commitment to Safety and Excellence
Managing Director and Founder, Prof. Joe Ezigbo, emphasized that this accomplishment underscores Falcon's unwavering dedication to best practices and stringent safety standards across all operations. He stated, "This milestone reflects our team's dedication to creating a safe work environment and our continuous pursuit of operational excellence."
The company's "Target Zero" initiative aims for no harm to personnel, equipment, or the environment, aligning seamlessly with its strategic objectives and mission to deliver superior solutions through operational excellence, people, and partnerships.
Project Overview
The state-of-the-art LPG storage facility, situated on over 110,000 square meters of land, includes jetty access to facilitate marine activities. Designed for end-to-end LPG delivery, the facility will serve distributors and off-takers, streamlining throughput activities.
Prof. Ezigbo highlighted that the strategic location of the facility in Port Harcourt aims to deepen gas utilization in the South-South and South-East regions. By positioning the storage facility closer to these markets, Falcon Corporation seeks to eliminate the logistical challenges associated with transporting gas first to Lagos and then by road to other regions.
Enhancing Domestic Gas Penetration
This project aligns with Nigeria's broader energy strategy to increase domestic gas penetration and reduce dependence on traditional fossil fuels. By improving the availability and accessibility of LPG, Falcon Corporation is contributing to cleaner energy adoption and supporting the nation's economic growth.
The successful progression of this project not only demonstrates Falcon's operational capabilities but also sets a benchmark for safety and efficiency in Nigeria's energy sector. As the facility moves closer to completion, it promises to play a pivotal role in meeting the country's growing energy demands sustainably.
