To shed light on the changing prices of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in different regions of Nigeria, we have compiled a thorough report on LPG prices for January 2024. This report details the costs of LPG in numerous cities nationwide, covering both the 12.5kg cylinder and per kilogram rates. Additionally, it offers a comparison with December's prices. Our findings are based on insights collected from 25 respondents, predominantly sourced from responses on Facebook and X.
Cities Surveyed: Gombe; Akwa Ibom; Ogun State; Akure, Ondo; Kwara; Benue; Port Harcourt; Osun; Abia; Ado Ekiti; Ibadan; Ogun State; Rumuodara, PH; Onitsha; Ikorodu, Lagos; VI, Lagos State; Ojo, Lagos State; Anambra; Delta; Oyo; Katsina and Jigawa.
High-Price Regions:
Akwa Ibom, Delta and Ikorodu in Lagos State: Cost of 12.5 KG: ₦14,375 (cost per KG: ₦1,150)
Osun, Gombe, Benue: Cost of 12.5 KG: ₦13,750 (cost per KG: ₦1,100)
Intermediate Price Regions:
Abia, Port Harcourt, Oyo, Kwara, Jigawa, Ojo: Cost of 12.5 KG: ₦13,125 (cost per KG: ₦1,050)
Onitsha: Cost of 12.5 KG: ₦12,250 (cost per KG: ₦980)
VI, Lagos State, Katsina: Cost of 12.5 KG: ₦12,500 (cost per KG: ₦1,000)

In our last 2023 survey, we saw that the average price for cooking gas was ₦12,253, while January 2024 shows an average price of ₦12,842. Therefore, the average price for cooking gas has increased by approximately ₦589, representing a percentage change of around 4.81% from the last survey in 2023 to January 2024.
