To shed light on the changing prices of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in different regions of Nigeria, we have compiled a thorough report on LPG prices for November 2023. This report details the costs of LPG in numerous cities nationwide, covering both the 12.5kg cylinder and per kilogram rates. Additionally, it offers a comparison with October's prices. Our findings are based on insights collected from 19 participants, predominantly sourced from responses on Facebook and X.


Cities Surveyed: Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom, Port Harcourt, Lagos, Bayelsa, Ijebu-Ife, Enugu- Uwani, Cross River, Ekiti, Edo, Gombe, Rivers, Ogijo Ogun, Ijebu Ode, Port Harcourt, Ikorodu, Lagos and Abuja.


Let’s look at the LPG prices across Nigerian states and cities. 


The survey data revealed the following prices:


Cities with the highest prices:


Ebonyi: 12.5kg cylinder - ₦15,625, Per kilogram - ₦1,250

Cross River: 12.5kg cylinder - ₦15,625, Per kilogram - ₦1,250

Ikorodu, Lagos: 12.5kg cylinder - ₦15,625, Per kilogram - ₦1,250


Cities with intermediate prices:


Port Harcourt: 12.5kg cylinder - ₦14,375, Per kilogram - ₦1,150

Akwa Ibom: 12.5kg cylinder - ₦13,750, Per kilogram - ₦1,100

Lagos: 12.5kg cylinder - ₦13,750, Per kilogram - ₦1,100

Gombe: 12.5kg cylinder - ₦13,750, Per kilogram - ₦1,100


Cities with the lowest prices:


Enugu: 12.5kg cylinder - ₦11,875, Per kilogram - ₦950

Ekiti: 12.5kg cylinder - ₦11,875, Per kilogram - ₦950

Ijebu Ode: 12.5kg cylinder - ₦11,875, Per kilogram - ₦950


Additionally, the prices in other cities were as follows:


Bayelsa: 12.5kg cylinder - ₦12,500, Per kilogram - ₦1,000

Ijebu-Ife: 12.5kg cylinder - ₦12,500, Per kilogram - ₦1,000

Lagos: 12.5kg cylinder - ₦12,125, Per kilogram - ₦970

Enugu, Uwani: 12.5kg cylinder - ₦12,500, Per kilogram - ₦1,000

Edo: 12.5kg cylinder - ₦12,500, Per kilogram - ₦1,100

Rivers: 12.5kg cylinder - ₦12,250, Per kilogram - ₦980

Ogijo Ogun: 12.5kg cylinder - ₦12,500, Per kilogram - ₦1,000

Port Harcourt: 12.5kg cylinder - ₦13,125, Per kilogram - ₦1,050

Abuja: 12.5kg cylinder - ₦12,500, Per kilogram - ₦1,000


In October, the average LPG price in Nigeria stood at ₦12,446, marking a notable increase of ₦1,234 from the previous September report. However, the November figures show a further uptick, with the estimated average price rising to ₦13,190, reflecting an increase of ₦744 from October. Despite this sequential rise, the current November price is lower in percentage increase when compared to prior-month statistics. As a result, the calculated increase in LPG prices from October to November amounts to approximately 5.98%.
