NLNG And Temile Partner To Enhance LPG Supply With New Vessel Management Deal

In a significant advancement for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) transportation in Nigeria and the broader West African region, NLNG Shipping and Marine Services Limited (NSML) signed a vessel management agreement with Temile Development Company Limited on Tuesday, 11th of June, 2024. This agreement designates NSML as the technical vessel manager for the LPG Alfred Temile 10, a 23,000 cubic meter LPG vessel owned by Temile Development Company.

The signing ceremony in Abuja marked a pivotal moment for both companies. Mr. Abdulkadir Ahmed, Managing Director of NSML, hailed the agreement as a "significant milestone" that would enhance LPG supply across the sub-region. He highlighted the fruitful partnership between NSML and Temile Development Company, which began with the construction and delivery of the first LPG vessel, the Alfred Temile, in 2020, and has now culminated in the delivery of a second vessel.

Ahmed emphasized the companies' shared commitment to operating a modern, efficient, and environmentally responsible fleet. He noted that the LPG Alfred Temile 10, with its cutting-edge design and technology, would set a new standard in LPG transportation.

During the event, Mr. Alfred Temile, Chairman and CEO of Temile Development Company, and Douglas Berkheiser, General Manager of Operations, expressed their intent to deliver another vessel by the end of the year. Temile reflected on the challenges of delivering the first vessel in 2020, noting that it was a groundbreaking achievement as no Nigerian company was engaged in the marine transportation of LPG at that time. "At that time, it was not a commercial decision, but a decision of 'we can do it,' and now we have done it," he said.

Olalekan Ogunleye, Executive Vice President of Gas, Power, and New Energy at NNPC Limited and Chairman of the NSML board, assured Alfred Temile of NSML's capability and full support in managing any number of vessels the company would deliver. This partnership underscores the companies' dedication to enhancing the infrastructure and efficiency of LPG transportation in the region.
