LPG Prices – Still Cautiously Bullish
LPG prices extended their upward momentum for a third consecutive week:
Propane: averaged $362.9/MT, up 1.6% from last week’s $359.2/MT.
Butane: averaged $413.4/MT, up 2.2% from last week’s $409.8/MT.
Crude Oil – Strong Rebound on Geopolitical Tensions
Crude oil prices surged at week’s end, driven by renewed geopolitical hostilities. Ukraine’s drone strikes on Russian oil facilities prompted Moscow to extend its export ban on gasoline and diesel. The escalating conflict, including reported Russian airspace incursions, has heightened market volatility and could push prices to new highs.
WTI: $66.17 (up from $63.21)
Brent: $70.50 (up from $67.06)
Outlook: While short-term sentiment has turned bullish, the medium- to long-term trend remains broadly bearish.
Nigeria LPG Market – Scarcity Triggers Price Spike
Depot prices climbed to monthly highs, hitting ₦18 million+ per 20 MT in Port Harcourt as major Lagos depots reported low or no stock. Dangote’s LPG operations remain offline amid ongoing maintenance and labour-related disruptions. Relief is expected with new NLNG cargoes arriving at Shafa Depot in Warri and Lagos terminals later this week.
Retail LPG – Prices Climb in Response to Scarcity
Retail cooking gas prices increased to around ₦1,150/kg in Lagos, with even higher rates reported in several other regions nationwide.
