Weekly Mont Belvieu Propane–Butane Market Update – December 19th, 2025

Weekly Average LPG Prices:

15/12/2025: Propane $329.9 | Butane $377.0

16/12/2025: Propane $323.5 | Butane $369.1

17/12/2025: Propane $322.0 | Butane $363.8

18/12/2025: Propane $319.8 | Butane $360.7

19/12/2025: Propane $325.6 | Butane $361.6

LPG Prices – Significant drop in prices

LPG prices dropped significantly for both Propane and Butane in response to Crude Oil prices drop , last week. While the average weekly price for Propane dropped by 7.1%, it was 6.2% for Butane.

Propane: averaged $324.2/MT, down 7.1% from last week’s $348.9/MT.

Butane: averaged $366.4/MT, down 6.2% from last week’s $390.6/MT.

Crude Oil – Further drop in prices despite the Geopolitical news.

(WTI: $56.22 | Brent: $60.01)

Geopolitics have nothing on oil prices at the moment, as prices remain under and around the 60 USD mark. The penalties imposed on Venezuela's Oil by the US under Trump and Ukraine's attack on key oil infrastructure in Russia haven't affected prices, which suggests an oversupplied market with a tendency for prices to drop further. We may see new Crude Oil price levels as we approach the end of 2025.

Weekly Close:

WTI: $56.22 (down from $57.33)

Brent: $60.01 (down from $60.97)

Outlook: A sub-$60 per barrel environment remains a strong possibility, considering prevailing market signals, despite geopolitical uncertainties.

Nigeria LPG Market – LPG prices remain around 18 million levels across different regions

Nigeria’s LPG prices remain around 18 million levels across the South West and South-South regions, but fell to circa 17.5 million per 20MT by the end of the week. More offshore supplies arrived at Apapa - Ardova, Techno Oil, and NAVGAS  received cargoes. Loading at Dangote remains frustrating for marketers as many wait endlessly to load their products.

Retail Cooking Gas – Prices Stable Nationwide

Retail prices remained largely unchanged, with prices ranging from 1,100 to 1,300 Naira per kilogram nationwide. Retail prices are expected to remain stable through the festive season, against earlier projections.
