In a bold move to support Nigeria’s clean energy transition, 11Plc, formerly known as Mobil Oil Nigeria, has inaugurated several Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations in Lagos and Oyo states as part of its strategic expansion into cleaner and more sustainable fuel solutions.
The announcement came during the company’s 47th Annual General Meeting held in Abuja. Speaking through Non-Executive Director Aminu Abdulkadir, the Chairman of 11Plc, Ramesh Kansagra, highlighted the company's continued commitment to environmental sustainability, innovation, and economic growth.
“The company’s clean energy initiatives have created new opportunities for growth and development. By investing in CNG and LPG infrastructure, 11Plc is creating jobs and stimulating economic activity in the communities it serves,” Kansagra said.
The commissioning of these prime CNG stations aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on traditional fuels and promote cleaner energy alternatives like CNG and LPG.
Driving Clean Energy Access and Economic Impact
In addition to CNG expansion, 11Plc has also grown its LPG (cooking gas) marketing skid presence nationwide, giving more Nigerians access to safe, affordable, and efficient cooking energy. Kansagra noted that this move not only improves the standard of living for millions but also contributes significantly to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
“11Plc’s expanded clean energy initiatives are a significant step towards promoting sustainability and reducing dependence on traditional fuels,” he added.
These efforts have been well-received by customers and stakeholders, who recognize the company’s role in enhancing energy access, reducing carbon emissions, and stimulating local economies through job creation.
A Sustainable Vision for the Future
As a major player in Nigeria’s downstream energy sector, 11Plc’s approach to clean energy reflects leadership and foresight in an industry that is evolving rapidly in response to global climate goals.
Kansagra emphasized that sustainability and innovation remain at the heart of the company’s operations, and that these investments are not only business decisions—they are long-term commitments to a cleaner, greener, and more inclusive energy future for Nigeria.
“By prioritising sustainability and innovation, 11Plc is positioning itself for long-term success and contributing to the country’s economic growth,” he said.
As Nigeria continues its journey toward a low-carbon economy, 11Plc’s expanding footprint in the LPG and CNG sectors signals a new era of opportunity—not just for the company, but for the communities it serves and the country at large.
