Residents of Sangotedo in the Ajah axis of Lagos State were thrown into panic yesterday following reports of a gas-related explosion that disrupted activities and raised fresh concerns about safety in densely populated urban communities. Although full official details are still emerging, early reports indicate that the incident involved a gas-related fire outbreak, with eyewitness accounts describing an explosion by 3am on the 21st of March 2026, followed by flames that spread rapidly within the vicinity. The situation reportedly caused fear among residents and commuters along the busy Lekki–Epe corridor, a major commercial and residential hub in Lagos.
