LPG Price trend is still Choppy
LPG prices rebounded yet again, suggesting a sustained Choppy or Range-bound trend that has been in place since the beginning of summer.
Propane averaged $346.4/MT, reflecting a 7.3% week-on-week drop from the previous $373.6/MT.
Butane settled at a weekly average of $375.2/MT, marking a 5.4% drop from the previous $396.4/MT.
Prices are likely to remain range-bound till the end of the summer.
Crude Oil Prices Lose Direction:
Crude oil prices declined compared to the previous week’s close, as easing geopolitical tensions—highlighted by the planned meeting between Putin and Trump—dampened market appetite for additional supply.
WTI ended the week at $63.63, down from $67.37, while Brent slipped to $66.27 from the prior week’s $69.65.
Nigeria LPG Market: LPG Price Recovers
LPG depot prices rebounded after hitting monthly lows, levels last seen in June 2024. The rebound is attributed to a temporary halt in LPG lifting at Dangote Refinery due to reported RFCC maintenance. While the duration of this halt remains unclear, prices are expected to stay at ₦17 million and above as long as supply remains steady. However, reduced or zero imports could quickly trigger scarcity if there is a sudden shift in local supply. During the week, depots in Lagos sold at ₦17 million per 20MT, while prices in the South-South region remained largely unchanged.
Retail LPG Prices remain stable
Retail LPG prices remained relatively stable nationwide, with prices in Lekki, hovering around N12,500 for a 12.5kg cylinder. We are yet to see a response to the depot price change.
