LPG Prices – Prices remain range-bound
LPG prices were generally range-bound last week, with insignificant movements during the week. Closing by 1.10% and 180% lower than the preceding week's average prices for Propane and Butane, respectively.
Propane: averaged $348.9/MT, down 1.10% from last week’s $352.7/MT.
Butane: averaged $397.9/MT, down 1.80% from last week’s $397.9/MT.
Crude Oil – Still range-bound despite the elements
(WTI: $57.33 | Brent: $60.97)
Venezuela tensions with the US grew worse during the week, with the seizure of a Venezuelan VLCC ( Very Large Crude Carrier), which seems to be the first of many to come if no negotiations happen soon - despite this development and other geopolitical news like the Ukraine-Russia war and lower production of Oil from Russia, Oil prices have remained range-bound. The oil-price trend further buttresses an oversupplied market, as oil prices sit at their lowest in two (2) months.
Weekly Close:
WTI: $57.33 (down from $60.29)
Brent: $60.97 (down from $63.94)
Outlook: A sub-$60 per barrel environment remains a strong possibility, considering prevailing market signals and geopolitical uncertainties.
Nigeria LPG Market – Port Harcourt receives LPG cargoes as prices make a downward correction
LPG prices in Port Harcourt reduced to 18 million per 20MT at stockgap from a high of almost 20 million in the previous week, as LPG circulated quickly within the South-South and the South East, from NLNG supplies. LPG Prices around Apapa remained stable at circa 18 million naira per 20MT, as the NAVGAS depot received another cargo from NLNG. Loading at Dangote remained very low, but information reaching us this week suggests that loading could improve in the coming week. We expect prices to remain stable.
Retail Cooking Gas – Prices Stable Nationwide
Retail prices remained largely unchanged, with prices ranging from 1100 Naira per KG at Ogombo area to 1300 Naira per KG in Lekki, Lagos.
However, prices are expected to rise as the Christmas festivities get thicker.
