Global LPG Prices Rebound on Bullish Momentum
LPG prices recorded a notable rebound last week, with both propane and butane showing steady upward movements across the trading days.
Propane averaged $378.8/MT, reflecting a 2.1% week-on-week increase from the previous $371/MT.
Butane settled at a weekly average of $395.6/MT, marking a 3.5% rise from the previous $383.2/MT.
The uptick reflects stronger market fundamentals and growing demand traction globally.
Crude Oil prices gain in response to renewed Geopolitical risk.
Crude oil prices strengthened last week on the back of heightened geopolitical tensions, particularly renewed attacks by Houthi rebels on commercial shipping routes in the Red Sea.
WTI closed the week at $68.23, up from $66.25, while Brent rose to $70.16, compared to $68.11 in the previous week
Markets are also closely watching the pending U.S. tariff announcement, now expected in August, and a key foreign policy decision on Russia, scheduled for Monday, both of which could significantly sway crude market sentiment.
Nigeria LPG Market: Depot Prices Show Mixed Signals
LPG depot prices continued to show signs of volatility during the week. At Dangote Refinery, off-takers reduced prices to facilitate quick sales, with some transactions reported at ₦16.1 million per 20MT—a drop of over 5%.
At Stockgap Depot, international price softness enabled off-takers to sell as low as ₦17.3 million per 20MT in some cases. Despite these short-term selloffs, market fundamentals suggest a likely rebound as depot volumes thin out and international prices rise. The landing cost of offshore LPG is expected to increase, which could reverse current domestic price softness.
Retail LPG Prices Remain Stable
Retail LPG prices remained relatively stable nationwide, with prices in Lagos hovering around N13,750 and N14,500 for a 12.5kg cylinder.
