03/06/2025: Propane $377.9 / Butane $381.4

06/06/2025: Propane $380.0 / Butane $384.5

LPG Prices stable

Both Propane and Butane prices remained stable during the week, hardly moving from the previous week's averages. Prices have remained under $400/MT for almost a month now, and it appears will remain so till summer. Propane closed at a weekly average of $375.0/MT, while Butane settled at $380.7/MT, down from the prior week’s averages of $384.7/MT and $380.8/MT, respectively.

Crude Oil Market pushed by Geopolitical Tensions

Crude oil markets found some support last week from renewed optimism surrounding US-China trade talks. However, lingering geopolitical uncertainties — including stalled US-Iran negotiations and continued tensions over Russia-Ukraine — kept a risk premium firmly embedded in prices.

WTI closed at $64.49, up from $60.46 in the previous week, while Brent also increased to $66.25 from $63.84.

Nigeria LPG Market: Depot Prices Drop Further

Depot prices in Apapa fell further last week, trading for as low as N17.450 million per 20MT, even as depots in the south-south sold for a bit higher, for around N17.7 million per 20MT. However, Prudent Energy Depot, Oghara, which received a cargo, posted a price of 20.9 million, apparently reflecting the landing cost of the import. Stockgap Depot receives its first cargo in over a month, we envisage some calculated price increase, which would be a win for Plants in the Port Harcourt environs.

Retail Market: Prices continue to dip

Retail LPG prices continue to dip as lower landing prices hit the plants and competition gets stiffer. Prices sold for N13,750 per 12.5kg cylinder and lower in Lekki and other parts of the country.
