Weekly Mont Belvieu Propane–Butane Market Update – December 26th, 2025

Weekly Average LPG Prices:

22/12/2025: Propane $324.6 | Butane $363.7

23/12/2025: Propane $324.5 | Butane $359.3

LPG Prices – Mild changes in prices

LPG Price direction is more bearish; though we saw propane prices moving slightly up by 0.2% on the weekly average, while butane prices dropped by 1.3% on the average weekly prices against the previous week. LPG Price direction in the immediate term is projected to be bearish - the main factor is the general direction of crude oil.

Propane: averaged $324.8/MT, up 0.2% from last week’s $324.2/MT.

Butane: averaged $361.8/MT, down 1.3% from last week’s $366.4/MT.

Crude Oil – Prices turn slightly bullish

(WTI: $58.40 | Brent: $62.22)

Oil prices finally reacted to geopolitical developments, with the US-Venezuela tensions and the seizure of oil vessels off Venezuela, raising concerns about potential supply disruptions. This underpinned a modest uptick in prices, though the move remained limited. In contrast, airstrikes in Northern Nigeria had no discernible impact on oil markets, as the country’s oil production is concentrated in the southern region.

Weekly Close:

WTI: $58.40 (up from $56.22)

Brent: $62.22 (up from $60.01)

Outlook: A sub-$60 per barrel environment remains a strong possibility in the near term, considering prevailing market signals, despite geopolitical uncertainties.

Nigeria LPG Market – LPG prices generally unchanged across regions

Nigeria’s LPG prices remained around 17.5m per 20MT in the South-West, but sold at circa 18m in the South-South ( Stockgap mainly). Loading at Dangote Refinery remains slower than normal.

Retail Cooking Gas – Prices differ across different locations, Nationwide.

Retail prices varied by location, ranging between ₦1,200 and ₦1,500 per kg nationwide. The recent uptick appears to be driven more by increased activity associated with the festive period rather than by supply shortages or higher landing costs.
