Weekly Mont Belvieu Propane–Butane Market Update – November 28th, 2025

Weekly Average LPG Prices:

24/11/2025: Propane $309.5 | Butane $388.4

25/11/2025: Propane $298.8 | Butane $379.7

26/11/2025: Propane $310.6 | Butane $393.3

LPG Prices – Market Remains Directionless

The week was characterised by the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday and technical glitches on a major trading platform (CME), which limited market activity and left LPG prices without any clear directional trend. Both propane and butane recorded only marginal declines.

Propane: averaged $306.3/MT, down 0.78% from last week’s $308.7/MT.

Butane: averaged $387.1/MT, down 1.8% from last week’s $394.2/MT.

Crude Oil – Mixed Performance as Market Awaits OPEC+ Decision

Crude oil prices posted modest gains last week amid delays in Russia–Ukraine peace negotiations. The market is also closely watching today’s OPEC+ meeting, which is widely expected to leave production volumes unchanged.

Weekly Close:

WTI: $59.12 (up from $57.0)

Brent: $63.26 (up from $62.12)

Outlook: A sub-$60 per barrel environment remains a strong possibility, considering prevailing market signals and geopolitical uncertainties.

Nigeria LPG Market – Depot Prices Drop Further as Cargoes Hit Port Harcourt

Nigeria’s LPG market recorded additional price declines, with products selling as low as ₦17 million per 20MT at NAVGAS and Rainoil. In Port Harcourt, fresh LPG cargoes were delivered, yet prices remained elevated at up to ₦19.9 million per 20MT, indicating continued under-supply in the eastern corridor.

Despite these developments, prices may rebound as some Apapa depots run out of stock and Dangote sales slow. Dangote offtakers sold at about ₦16.5 million per 20MT.

Based on current estimates, the landing cost for imported LPG is around ₦17.5 million per 20MT, which should act as a practical floor price (excluding Dangote) as we approach December.

Retail Cooking Gas – Prices Stable Nationwide

Retail prices remained largely unchanged, with most locations selling between ₦1,300–₦1,500/kg nationwide.

However, prices are expected to rise as the festive season draws closer.
